The hot weather certainly didn’t stop our fantastic Dream Big Careers Day, which proved to be an inspiring and memorable experience for all involved. We were delighted to welcome a wide range of visitors who shared their career journeys, experiences and insights with our students.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to learn about careers in science, finance, engineering, sewing and fashion, policing, editing and publishing, and politics, including hearing first-hand about the role of an MP. The event helped children to broaden their understanding of the many career opportunities available to them and the skills, qualifications and personal qualities needed to succeed in different professions.

Our visitors encouraged students to think ambitiously about their futures, ask questions and explore career pathways they may not have previously considered. The enthusiasm and expertise shared throughout the day inspired many students to reflect on their own aspirations and develop a greater awareness of the possibilities open to them.

Meanwhile, our Year 1 pupils got hands-on with their own exciting careers experience through a range of role-play activities. The children stepped into the shoes of different professionals, including chefs, engineers, vets, designers and firefighters. They built machines, created their own designs, iced biscuits, used a fire hose and even fixed up some poorly ‘animals’. These engaging activities helped bring different careers to life and gave the children a greater understanding of the skills and responsibilities involved in each role.

Student reflections:

“Career Day has inspired me to try out new things instead of thinking thoughts that I’ve had for years, like becoming a financial business manager.”– Shayaan

“I am inspired to become an editor of a comic book like the person from today.”– Donnie

A huge thank you to all of our visitors for giving their time and sharing their experiences. Their contributions helped make the day a tremendous success, inspiring our students to think beyond the present, explore new possibilities and truly Dream Big about their futures.
